As first reported by ThreatVectr, Anthropic is resetting the weekly usage ceiling on Claude Code, the tool that lets paying subscribers have Claude write and edit software for them. The company's initial post on X framed the change as a straightforward 25% increase. That post was deleted.
A follow-up, flagged first by BleepingComputer, made the arithmetic plain. Customers are currently running under a temporary 50% boost above the original baseline. The new permanent figure is only 125% of that baseline, down from 150%. Against what's actually in subscribers' accounts today, that's a 17% reduction. Anthropic confirmed the number in its own words: "Compared to today, this works out to a 17% reduction in weekly limits on Claude Code."
Why is Anthropic making this change?
The company hasn't explained its reasoning publicly, but heavy coding sessions consume substantial computing power.
