Anthropic has given Claude two new abilities: write full documents and build presentation slide decks, all from the same chat window where you already type your questions.
The tools are called Claude Docs and Claude Slides. Both launch in beta, meaning they're live but still being refined. You type a request, Claude generates a document or presentation, and you can edit it yourself or ask Claude to revise it. Every file lives at a single shareable link you can open on your phone.
Sharing works like Google Docs. Files start private. You can invite collaborators to edit in real time, and both human editors and Claude itself can leave margin comments.
That Google Docs comparison is pointed, not accidental. Google has spent years weaving its Gemini AI deep into its productivity suite. The practical effect has been that people who wanted Google's document tools stayed inside Google's world. Why does this matter to ordinary users?
If you already use Claude to draft emails or summarise long reports, you no longer need to copy the result into a separate app to format and share it. Everything stays in one place.
Anthropic is also tidying up its product line. Until now, Claude offered a separate workspace called "Cowork" alongside standard chat. Those two modes are merging into a single interface the company brands "one Claude." Claude Design, a tool for creating visual assets, is part of the same consolidated experience, alongside Artifacts.
Anthropic's models are generally seen as more capable than Google's, but Google held a structural advantage: its AI lived inside tools millions of people already used every day. Claude Docs and Slides chip away at that edge.

The timeline is worth watching. Google's integration runs across a productivity suite that organisations have used for a decade.
