Key points

  • Meta launched Meta One subscription bundles globally, with individual pricing starting at $7.99 per month.
  • The Core ($7.99/month) and Premium ($19.99/month) tiers both include Instagram Plus, WhatsApp Plus and Facebook Plus, with extra AI usage on top.
  • Business and creator tiers range from $14.99 to $499 per month, with perks like verified badges and round-the-clock AI customer-response tools.
  • Meta says the basic experience across its apps and its Meta AI assistant will stay free.
  • AI glasses and the Edits video app will be added to the bundles later, though no date has been set.

Meta moved fast this week. Days after unveiling Muse, its new AI assistant that can generate images and help with creative tasks inside its apps (we covered the launch on 8 September), the company is now selling subscription packages that put those AI features at the centre.

The new plans are called Meta One. They bundle together paid upgrades for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, which previously cost $11 a month bought separately. The Core bundle undercuts that at $7.99. Premium sits at $19.99 and includes heavier AI usage: more image generation through Muse, plus features like Instagram's Restyle tool, which redraws your photos in different artistic styles.

What do ordinary users actually get?

For most people, nothing changes unless they choose to pay. Meta is keeping the standard, free versions of all its apps and its basic Meta AI assistant at no cost. The bundles are for people who want more AI output and the subscriber-only extras that already existed inside each app.

The jump from $7.99 to $19.99 buys more AI generation capacity. That is the practical difference between the two individual tiers.

What about small businesses and creators?

This is where Meta is clearly betting bigger. The Essential plan, at $14.99 a month, adds a verified badge (a small tick confirming your identity), impersonation protection so fake copycat accounts get flagged, and access to Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp. That last tool is an AI-powered chatbot that handles customer messages around the clock without you needing to be online.

The plans scale up sharply from there:

Plan Monthly price Who it targets
Core $7.99 Individuals
Premium $19.99 Individuals, power users
Essential $14.99 Small creators, small businesses
Advanced $49.99 Professional creators
Expert $149 Larger teams
Max $499 Enterprises at scale

Advanced, at $49.99, adds scheduling tools (you can queue Instagram Stories up to 30 days ahead), links inside regular posts and Reels, exportable analytics and the ability to give team members account access without handing over your password. Expert and Max, first reported by The Verge, are aimed at bigger operations needing the highest volume of automated business responses.

Meta plans to fold its Edits video-editing app and Ray-Ban AI smart glasses into the bundles over time, with no specific date given.

Should you worry about what Muse knows?

The pricing story has a shadow. Our reporting on 10 September found that Muse can surface personal details from your social accounts that even Instagram won't show you directly. Paying for more AI output also means feeding Muse more of your activity.

The most telling signal here isn't the price tiers. It's that Meta has made AI throughput, how many images you generate, how many automated messages your account sends, the core thing you're paying to increase. The apps are the hook; the AI capacity is the product. Watch whether that changes how creators calculate the real cost of building an audience on these platforms.
