Anthropric has redesigned the Claude interface to fix a problem its own customers kept running into: nobody was sure which tab to open.
Before this week, Claude offered separate areas for chat, Cowork (a space for ongoing collaborative tasks) and Artifacts (an interactive workspace for code and documents). Choosing between them required a judgement call most users didn't want to make. Now everything sits in a single window, and Claude routes each request to the right part of the app on its own. Claude Design, a tool Anthropic launched in April for building website mockups and prototypes, also works anywhere inside the new unified view.
What new tools does Claude actually gain here?
Beyond the interface change, Anthropic is adding two practical creation features.
The first is Slides. Users can ask Claude to build a presentation from scratch, refine it through conversation, then download the result as a PowerPoint file or a PDF. No separate app, no copy-pasting.
The second is Docs. Think of it as a shared document where Claude is the co-author. Users can ask Claude to draft sections, leave comments, pose questions about the content and share the finished piece with anyone via a link. Start a document on a laptop, check Claude's progress from a phone: both Slides and Docs work on mobile.
First reported by TechCrunch AI, the features are rolling out to Pro and Max subscribers first, across web and desktop, over the coming weeks. Free and Team tier users will get access later, though Anthropic has not given a specific date.
Does this change how Claude remembers past conversations?
Not directly, but the timing is linked. Anthropic recently updated Cowork's memory layer, the part of the system that stores context from earlier chats so Claude doesn't start from zero each time. The new unified interface builds on top of that improvement.
The practical upshot for ordinary users is simple: open Claude, describe what you need, and the app figures out the rest. Fewer menus, fewer decisions about which mode to pick.
